Review of 47 Meters Down (2017) by Derek T — 25 Jun 2017
Garbage Dialogue and Character development. By the time the movie's intro of 2 girls drinking, partying in a club and dancing to crap music, you begin to root for the Sharks. Attack scenes were sub par until the end. Interesting twist in the movie 3/4 of the way in. Great underwater shark scenes. This movie made me jump out of my seat a few times. Pretty scary. In the movie however the Captain (Matthew Modine) says he's spotted Great White sharks as big as 28 feet. Ridiculous. Those big sharks are probably out there , but they haven't been seen or recorded. I think the biggest is around 20 feet. Another poor choice of dialogue in this film was when one of the guys on the boat said great whites can sense your heart beating from 5 miles away...!? I'm unsure on this one, I thought they could sense blood from around a mile away...but 5 miles. Really!?
Overall...Bad writing, horrifying plot, mediocre acting but the 89 minutes that the movie lasts ends appropriately right before you want to just leave the theater because of boredom and rude people.
