Review of 7 Guardians of the Tomb (2018) by Uriel V — 24 Sep 2018

A movie with really good intentions. It is clearly that they want to do too much with the movie and to have maybe too many things: CGI, production, art, sets, interesting script, international cast, sexy bad ass main asian beauty protagonist, good humor guy, chinese macho man, bad ass american hero, good villains, terror, social issues with a little girl who lost her family, cultural difference and aspect, the people from the 2 cultures working together, Mc Guffins, action and beyond.

But, the thing goes wrong when someone decided that the SPIDERS should be the MAIN VILLAIN (is NOT an spoilers is pretty clear from the beginning of the movie). I felt like someone likes to much the Mummy (1999) and think that they should do the same, but instead of used beetles they go ahead with spiders.

But in the Mummy the main villain is clearly Imhothep, with who you simpatize because he is in love. In this movie, which the spiders have more screen time that the humans, of who suppose to be the villain of course your movie goes wrong.

Completely wrong. I THINK THEY CAN FIXED it with an a good editor to remove the King spider discussions with his servants, and start with the beautiful sequence in the desert. It has a lot of potential actually, but maybe nobody will read this.

A pity because actually it have a lot of potential to be a good movie.
