Review of A Dark Song (2016) by Eric W — 17 Nov 2018
I was pretty surprised by how grounded this movie could be at its finer moments. Not only is it a decent study of gnostic rituals, but a great character study of a grieving mother and a troubled shaman who just wants to see truth in the world.
Both of their troubling pasts collide as the ritual plays them both like a dark song. Even though the end did not completely pay off all of the build up it was great to see that (spoiler alert) the ritual actually worked.
Cinematography was better than average which also helped with my involvement in the characters and film itself. Great pick for offbeat horror movie fans.
