Review of A Dark Song (2016) by Mark W — 10 May 2017
Loosely based on the Abramelim ritual for attaining direct experience of, and conversation (connection) with, the operator's Holy Guardian Angel. Attributed to a Rabbinical text but heavily re-interpreted by McGregor Mathers, one of the founders of the G.
D. as established in England in 1888. (Wikipedia has an article on the ritual with links to Mathers and he G.D.). Much like the ritual, which is tediously long and arcane, the movie is tediously long and arcane, but it also resonates a certain truth so often lacking in occult/horror movies, and the last 3 minutes of the movie are completely worth the build-up.
