Review of A Gray State (2017) by Brian C — 06 Jan 2018
Shines The Spotlight On Multiple Issues At Once, These Include; Family Violence, The Culture Of Military Might, Narcissism, Depression & PTSD, Children & Rights Of The Child, Gun Culture & The Right-Wing Neo-Lib Factions Of Society.
There Are No Clear Answers To Be Found Here, But The Pandora's Box Of Discussion It Opens Is Incredible. The Irony Of The Entire Film Is That It Had Aimed To Open An Entirely Different Door Upon On Other Sections Of Society To Blame For The Problems That Come About Ultimately Via Shining A Light Upon Itself.
I Think What I Find Most Disturbing About This Is The 'Knowingly Silent' Factor, Where By-Standers Look On Not Knowing How To Resolve A Clear Darkness Approaching, Avoiding Engagement With Services, Until It's Too Late.
.Quite Devastating Really. The Dystopian Conspiracy Underlying The Family & Overall Story Simply Adds Salt To A Very Deep Wound. Clearly The Military & Support Of Returning Officers Should Be Reconsidered In Light Of This.
.Particularly In Respect To How Readily Available Weaponry Is In The United States & The Knowledge Of It's Use. I Don't Know What Else To Sad...Very Sad Situation For All Involved. We Edge Close To This Question In This Film, But There Is Little More Else Explored, So It Is An Opportunity Squandered I Think.
Hrmmm...Difficult Material To Resolve Though.
