Review of A Home at the End of the World (2004) by Jason S — 18 Aug 2010
I read the book several years ago and I recall thoroughly enjoying it. Translating 344 pages that sprawl three decades into 90 minutes is a difficult task. Yes, the book is far superior but there are some nice touches in this adaptation: the soundtrack, and Colin Farrell's expressive eyebrows.
There's some nice scenes, but the characters (except for Jonathan) aren't explored enough to understand them and their actions. But Colin Farrell's tender portrayal of Jonathan holds the film together.
.. perhaps his best performance to date. (And Sissy Spacek is always a pleasure on the screen.).
