Review of A Most Violent Year (2014) by Matt C — 02 Apr 2018
Don't go into this expecting 'Goodfellas' this is a far more restrained movie in terms of the violence depicted on screen. Everything is happening off camera or away from the screen but the tension is still there and palpable.
Much like the excellent 'Sopranos' this focuses on one man's attempts to rise to the top but all of the problems both financial and personal that come with that. Brilliant performance by Isaac and Chastain keep you interested throughout, this feels like a good book.
Perfect viewing for an Easter afternoon.
