Review of A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) by Vaguemonochrome — 19 Feb 2021
For it's time it had a very original story. In this first installment of the series Freddy was sadistic, cruel, and terrifying instead of the tension-breaking jokester he would become in later films. You really empathize with his victims more in this film without the comedy breaking the tension in the more intense scenes.
All the special effects were practical, and there were about 70 in a 90 minute film.
