Review of A Place in the Sun (1951) by Steve S — 16 Dec 2009
Aside from Raymond Burr's over-the-top oar-smashing segment, this a flawless examination of a lonely young man and his desire to break free of his lower class roots and achieve the American Dream. Montgomery Clift's talent is on full display. As George Eastman, he conveys longing, fear, and internal torment with tremendous effectiveness.
Favourite Scene: The "Do I make you nervous?" bit.
