Review of A Quiet Place Part II (2021) by Veloso — 12 Jul 2021
A Quiet Place Part II is a sequel that deserves the title ''A respectable sequel'' because it doesn't need to exaggerate anything that was introduced: monsters, survival and the curiosity of how people would deal with a quiet world.
It enlarges its universe in a subtle and bold way, presenting the big reason why the film decided to choose that specific surviving family from the first film.
The acting is something impressionable, with the deserved talent of how its actors manage to express such true reactions to the dangers presented.
The monster look continues with the same detail as the first film, but with several other camera games and more scene choreography before using CGI.
The soundtrack is neither intrusive nor tedious, it manages to provoke the tension that is mandatory in the film, and it helps to enhance various scenes.
The only drawback for me is the use of too many scenes where the person is saved at the last minute.
I understand it's to make the scene more tense and give us goosebumps, but when you use it several times, you can already know that those characters are going to be saved, even if they're just a second away from being killed.
That said, A Quiet Place Part II is a highly acclaimed sequel that is really worth having to wait until the third part of this trilogy.
