Review of A Tale of Two Sisters (2003) by Kate H — 24 Jan 2012
A Tale of Two Sisters is a creepy ghost movie with a stepmom who doesn't get along with the two sisters, the scenes are long and drawn out which made some scenes uneventful but others tense with atmosphere.
You think you'll know how it ends but after the hour mark things start getting more and more bizarre until the whole film completely shifts directions from a standard haunted house movie which made it all the more enjoyable, in fact it made the whole story much more engaging than watching someone inching their face in a slightly ajar closet door for about 3 minutes.
The again I wasn't going in really wanting to watch a horror movie, and to my delight it turned into a complete mindfuck, the only complaint I have is that the last half hour is really rushed and contradicts the rest of the movie's slower drawn out pacing, they should've kept that consistent, otherwise great atmospheric psychological horror film starring Emily Browning.
Oh wait, I'm thinking of the Uninvited; Fuck this film! It ain't 'MURICAN enough!
