Review of A Walk in the Clouds (1995) by James M — 17 Nov 2012
All the critics are right. This is a syrupy movie and I dislike those. Pre-Matrix Reeves had not yet learned to act but he did so with earnestness. However, this movie caught me. It is a 1930s or '40s B movie done perfectly.
I give it 5 stars despite all the formula, sappiness and Keanu. I would have given it 1 star but I reward films that work well within the confines of a formula. This did. It had me tearing up and,mid-movie, I had to go get some homemade brandy from my cellar to drink with Quinn to get me through the last part of the movie.
Bravo.
