Having Not read the book this was a slow , charming movie. Wouldn't have made much sense if the two were in their 40's for the movie. Being old seemed to make the movie. Men in their 40's wouldn't have had the time off and would have been able to complete the trail in full.
If your looking for slow and good scenery this is a good movie.
