Review of A Wrinkle in Time (2018) by Andres G — 07 Apr 2018
The movie begins with a somewhat random plot about a nerdy mulatto who's dad has disappeared for four years. She plays hard-to-get with a random boy and gets bullied by a jealous anorexic. Her younger brother, Charles-Wallace, finds a delusional ginger, an Indian who only says random quotes that I find annoying, and a goddess who changes size that I don't know if she exists or not. Then, they tesser to a random galaxy, and the plot of the story gets more random. I won't spoil the rest of the story. I feel as if I were in a dream, which is part good, but not all good. The graphics are beautiful, but everything else makes NO SENSE AT ALL! The whole adventure has no meaning, just to save her wimpy father. The moral of the story is to love yourself, which is good, but everyone pretty much knows that. Overall, this is not a thought-out movie. Ava Duvernay is a great director, especially for Selma, and other great movies, but this movie wasn't her best.
Grade: 16 (F).
