Review of Aladdin (2019) by Spongeswift — 31 May 2019
Aladdin may have some issues in terms of pacing and character development but Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott, and especially Will Smith made this movie such a gem. I think it had a very slow start, I got a little bored but when Will Smith's Genie came on the screen, I knew I was in for an amazing flik.
Jasmine's voice is so pure and powerful but her strength comes in her vulnerability. She takes some of the issues of that time head on with perfect musical scenes. The Genie wasn't a vocal powerhouse and neither was Aladdin but their voices were good enough to get a pass.
It was a very long movie (2 hours) but it still ended very quickly. This movie surely isn't perfect but with charming music and great acting, it's worth your time.
