Review of Aladdin (2019) by Norse — 17 Feb 2020
Oh my, this movie is so incredibly bad.
I love Will Smith, but this production has no charm, the musical numbers are really poorly executed - really poorly executed, as if the actors couldn't sing and could not be bothered to use autotune.
This wouldn't be an issue, but of course this is a musical, so the lack of musicality kills it.
All of the actors look like they're just dialing in their performances.
At least this disaster of a movie got me to rewatch the original Aladdin, which was a really pleasant surprise by contrast, with emotive songs and great performances by the cartoon characters animators.
My conclusion is that Disney has no real quality control going on for it's projects, which is a shame given how much money went into the live action version.
