Why did this movie just not work? Is Tyler Perry (Alex Cross) a bad actor or is Rob Cohen a bad director? Certainly both are to blame but mainly the latter I would suggest. I didn't 'believe' anything.
Some of the scenes and back stories were painted as though the viewers might all be mentally retarded. It might as well have come with a hand book just to make sure you got some of the points that were so overtly and repeatedly spelled out.
Enough, we get it already! Alex is really perceptive, the killer is really sadistic, the captain won't listen to good advice... Etc., etc... It's stereotype after stereotype. I think 2 stars is on the generous side but an extra half star was awarded for Edward Burns as (Cross' Partner), who despite the bad directing and scripting managed to get in a reasonable performance against all the odds.
Save 100 minutes of your life for anything else!
