Review of Alien: Covenant (2017) by Teddy R — 07 Nov 2018
Biggest disappointment in a long time. Characters are boring, with little reason to care for them other than the wonderfully acted David and Walter. Tension is occasionally lost and is generally inconsistent.
The third act is mess, with little purpose other than to set up a sequel, with predictable plot twists. The films saving graces are Fassbender's amazing performances and a handful of genuinely terrifying, well shot and well paced scenes that are as disturbing as the original Alien.
Overall a fun film with some amazing scenes, but ultimately weighed down by a lack of direction and consistency.
