Ridley Scott back on form after all those dreary Alien clones. Gorgeously photographed (with plenty of his trademark misty backlighting) and featuring a superlative performance at its cruel cold heart from Christopher Plummer, this is a lot more engrossing than it had any right to be, given its production problems.
Michelle Williams also very fine.
