Review of All the Money in the World (2017) by John C — 02 Jan 2018
Ridley Scott's "All the Money in the World" is the true story of John Paul Getty III's (Charlie Plummer) kidnapping in 1973 and his mother's (Michelle Williams) struggle to get his grandfather J.Paul Getty (Christopher Plummer) to pay the ransom of 17 million dollars.
Although this film went through a major cast change due to the Kevin Spacey allegations, Ridley Scott manages to put together a spectacular film at the last minute with Plummer as Getty. This film keeps you on the edge of your seat at all times from start to finish, and all though the film can seem to get a little long at times it picks back up with great action sequences and unexpected twists and turns.
Christopher Plummer was the highlight of this film. He managed to put together a masterful performance by embodying the stubbornness and ruthlessness of Getty all in the matter of just under 2 weeks. Michelle Williams also puts out a fantastic performance as the anxious and incessant mother Gail Harris. Mark Wahlberg puts out a decent performance as Fletcher Chase, however his character is most often used as a messenger boy for both Getty and Harris.
All together "All the Money in the World" is a sharp and compelling story of desperation, love and greed that shouldn't be overlooked due to the last minute changes and direction.
