Dylan O'Brien's first real role proves the young actor is eager to prove he's an action hero even if his big shot wasn't the blockbuster it aimed to be. American Assassin is a standard espionage thriller much like every other Bourne of Mission Impossible movie with action-packed sequences and politics at the center of its plot.
The movie is flawed, predictable, and not as interesting as the trailer promised which is a shame as I was really looking forward to seeing it.
