Review of An Affair to Remember (1957) by Harrison W — 20 Dec 2016
This is one excruciatingly boring picture where the characters are uninteresting, the plot is super simple and sappy, the cliches are too many to count, and the drawn out, directionless scenes serve to fill the film's runtime. Honestly, I was thinking to myself, "When will this picture end??" more than once as I continued to believe that the film was going to be over soon enough. Much to my dismay, the film has too many false endings which only made me continuously squirm in my seat with disgust.
Thanks for the unnecessary school choir musical scenes as well film, they totally served so much to the plot and my value of entertainment.
One final kick to the groin is that I can't help but feel that this whole movie feels like one big ego trip for Mr. Grant who ironically enough is totally disinterested in the whole picture along with his leading lady, Deborah Kerr. I can't blame them though because this is one wretchedly romanticized, sickeningly sweet film that I certainly wouldn't have wanted to play a part in. This is, without question, one of Grant's worst roles/movies.
That's two hours of my life I'm not getting back.
