Review of Anatomy of a Murder (1959) by Rod A — 12 Aug 2008
Courtroom dramas are often grippng (The Verdict is my favorite example), for the most part, this one is not. George C. Scott and Ben Gazzara provide flashpoints of character and passion. On the whole everyone seems to be reading from a court transcript that hasn't been adequately converted into an actual story.
Ellington's presence seems more like product placement than anything else. This should have been much better.
