Review of And Then There Were None (1945) by Kristen B — 30 Jul 2009
And then there were none. It's all in the title. But apparently Christie forgot about that when she adapted it for the stage (although to be fair I think it was still called Ten Little Indians then).
But still, the brilliance of the novel was the fact that none survived and the mystery that the police are left with. This adaptation tears about the original genius (including the background stories of the characters) and puts in its place a stupid and horrible mockery of it.
Two people survive? Just because they couldn't figure out a way to explain the mystery on stage? STUPID! Besides all that (which I could continue to rant about but I won't) the performances were cheesy and ridiculous.
