Review of Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018) by Danny%20 B — 14 Jan 2019
Ant Man and the Wasp is largely successful thanks to its funny script, comic performances and cast chemistry. However while it may be refreshing for some, being a middle point for Avengers 4 and Captain Marvel gave them ample opportunity to give this film more material and drama.
The titled Wasp is largely seen in the trailer including her partnership with Ant Man, not giving the film much other than its rat race like story. While that is lots of fun, to have fully embraced it with a third villain party in pursuit of our heroes would have made the idea more effective.
Instead we get two sets of undeveloped villains with much of the entertainment coming from the continued fun and experimentation of the size powers. Paul Rudd continues to be a powerhouse in comedy and emotion while Evangeline Lilly unfortunately has a limited range of emotions in the script to work with.
Michael Douglas is a continued welcome addition and while Michelle Pfeiffer always adds more prestige, but there is very little of her. I said Ant Man and the Wasp would be a must see after Infinity War and wile it may be the case as a palette cleanser its unfortunately not essential viewing.
