Review of Asterix and the Vikings (2006) by Tristan P — 25 May 2008
Entertaining, if somewhat disappointing (and even at times, obnoxious) feature finds the famous French heroes training a young boy and fighting against the Vikings.
It's good to see a traditionally animated film again in the late 2000s. But the storyline is so predictable. Justforkix makes an annoying hero, with the usually reliable Sean Astin not really helping things. Evan Rachel Wood is all right but her character seems too much like a cartoon version of Elizabeth Swann. Of the actors who provide the voices, Paul Giamatti and Brad Garrett seem to have the most fun as Asterix and Obelix.
