Although there are multiple plotholes in the film, they are foreshadowed by the plethora of awesome scenes. The alternate reality scenes, and the ones where Marty goes undercover in 1955 a second time are incredible.
This is not a perfect film by any means, and certainly not better than the original, but it's a great successor and I fully recommend watching it.
