Although the plot borrows some elements from the previous films, It's the change of settings that helps keep things fresh. It wasn't until the final act where things started to get boring because it was exactly the same as previous films.
My one major critique for Part 2 and 3 is that the plot just wasn't different enough. But unlike Part 2, Part 3 can be somewhat fun to watch.
