Review of Bao (2018) by Omar L — 19 Jun 2018
The generational divide is difficult enough for parents to navigate, but it's even harder for those who emigrate to another country and raise their children in another culture, a culture that THEY consider foreign.
The beauty of art is that it can cross linguistic divides, and in less than 8 minutes, "Bao" manages to tell a heartwarming and ridiculous story that every parent and every immigrant parent (and every child of an immigrant parent) can appreciate.
Even without dialogue, this wonderful short serves as a touching lesson to those who are afraid of losing the ones closest to you or losing your identity.
