Review of Barbie (2023) by Manleybeer — 08 Aug 2023
A lot of people are saying that the feminist spiel is a bit on the nose, not realizing that THAT is the brand of Barbie. There is nothing subtle in the Barbieland. Barbie unabashedly and advertently attempts to tell the story. It is a satire to highlight the contrast between the real and the fake world which a lot of dumb people are shrugging off saying it is complaining and preaching. It is a perfect ending to both Barbie and Ken's story. I wished Allen got his too. overlooking Allen is my only issue with this movie.
The casting was perfect. Especially Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling shine through and through. Hope it opens new doors for Greta. Can't wait to see more from her.
