Review of Before the Flood (2016) by Richard B — 26 Sep 2017
This is a climate change documentary with heart, high production values and a bit of the personal touch, since DiCaprio plays the host and interjects some of his personal feelings along the way. The film combines visits to many key areas of the world where climate change is having impacts with interviews that feature some knowledgeable and articulate people speaking clearly and passionately about climate change. I'm sure there are a few debatable claims over the course of this film, but it makes the case powerfully. I could have done with a bit less of DiCaprio himself, but I'm glad he has a commitment to this cause. There are many beautiful and affecting scenes in this, and it argues persuasively that we are the stewards of the planet who have failed miserably in so many ways and now must do what we can to restore the health of the planet that made us and sustains us in every way.
