Just looking at it on the surface level a pretty tense and intense survival chase movie. Which is let down a little by the usual cliche over the top action Hollywood ending (imo). The movie does have layers for sure.
Seen through the eyes of a disaffected airman due to quit the service and a by the book career Admiral. A journey of cost for one man and realization for other. This can also be seen as critique of red tape and political BS that service men & women have to endure.
