Review of Being John Malkovich (1999) by Compi24 — 25 Apr 2023
Though not my favorite work of his, "Being John Malkovich" is signature Charlie Kaufman, what with the rich philosophical underpinnings, the raucous absurdity and the mind-bending twists and turns.
I will say, some of the characterizations in this were a tad uneven for my tastes, especially given the other project I've seen from this writer/director pairing. However, the premise alone is enough to keep you in your seat, not to mention the zany production design and completely game performances across the board.
Still can't believe they managed to nab Malkovich to play himself in this, given some of the lunacy he's subjected to throughout.
