Review of Big Night (1996) by Eric H — 05 Jan 2014
A simple story that left me thinking deeply of the characters and their futures. I never remember connecting so much with the people on the screen, but the actors' handling of the script transports them all beyond the confines of a movie and into reality.
Their bumbles, their mannerisms, their glances and grimaces are all so real and will leave you feeling empathic and maybe a little embarrassed for them. People are imperfect, and in an age where movies blair with polish and perfection, Big Night put those elements aside and succeeded to do something great as a result.
If you are hoping to smile your way through an expertly told story, watch this movie.
