Review of Bill & Ted Face the Music (2020) by Kirkender — 12 Oct 2020
Face the Music is much better than you would expect from a 25 years later sequel no one wanted. Alex Winters truly lives in the character and is enjoyable to watch. Keanu Reeves struggles to hold onto the magic, and would have been much more convincing if he relaxed a little.
The true stars of the film are Samara Weaving's Thea and Brigette Lundy-Paine's Billie, who legitimately deserve a sequel focused on them. The film runs at a brisk pace that is everything you would expect; then the characters get to hell and everything screeches to a horribly boring halt upon reuniting with Death.
It's a scene that feels like it was the seed idea for this sequel, a 'getting the band back together after we broke up because of reasons,' that really isn't needed and considering the success of the rest of the movie, should have been left on the cutting room floor.
Other than that, its super fun.
