Review of Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) (2014) by Laurie Y — 14 Jan 2019
In my opinion this is the greatest film I have seen to this point. It questions huge, expansive ideas with regard to the meaning of llife and the correct way to live, but to ankther person it could simply be an experimental method of showing how to make good theatre.
In fact, to yet another viewer it could be a feature length film that basically just compounds the iconic spiderman phrase 'with great power comes great responsibility'. One thing is for sure, the artistuaccly unique and visually stunning film by Alejandro Innaritu offers a thousand ways to watch it, with a thousand, impactful ideas to take from it.
Or, to a (virtuously?) ignorant viewer it is simply a cool film about a washed up actor.
