Review of Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) (2014) by Jay S — 04 Mar 2018
The tricks that this director pulled off with the extremely long takes and the amazing editing present in this film are incredible achievements. But for me, this film is more than good aesthetics. The characters are all well rounded and very real in a satirical kind of way and the performances that inhabit them are astounding.
The screenplay offers some of the funniest and true dialogue about the world of theater and filmmaking while also telling a very touching story about feeling relevant to the world and one's family.
Birdman is one of the few best picture winners that I truly feel deserves the award as it brought a truly original, unique, funny, touching and extremely well crafted film.
