Review of Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) (2020) by Professorfett — 21 May 2020
Birds of Prey is DC's latest in the line of we are only making movies with characters that work. They picked a great time to release it due to the fact the Harley Quinn is really hot right now. They are pushing her and people are taking a liking to this new anti-hero.
I will say first and foremost if you don't like Harley Quinn SKIP THIS MOVIE. I shouldn't have to say that but people love to see something they know they have a bias against just to hate on it. Birds of Prey is a fun movie that is bug nuts crazy, but super enjoyable.
I had a good time while watching it. A lot of the jokes miss yet the ones that hit are genuinely funny. For me it was Black Mask played by Ewan Mcgregor who steals the show. He knows he is in a comic book movie and just makes the film his own.
Seriously ever second he is on screen playing his psycho mob boss made me want a Goodfellas style movie with him in it. The movie is rated R which helps it a lot. There is cussing and enough violence to make you pleased with it being basically about a villain.
I enjoyed this film and would recommend it for a fun rental to drinks a couple of beers with and enjoy some popcorn just for a good time.
