Review of Blackfish (2013) by Bill S — 11 Jan 2016
I thought this documentary was brilliant. Very informative, insightful and also heartbreaking in places. I went to seaworld as a child but as an Adult I am against animals in captivity unless absolutely necessary.
What I didn't know until I watched this film is that the orcas have bits of the brain that humans don't have which make them highly emotional creatures even more so than humans and social interaction is essential to their wellbeing.
The traumatic reactions expressed by whales separated from their young/parents demonstrated in this film shows that seaworld have no regard for the happiness of these animals and that dollars are their main focus - instigating separations to make more money.
Please go see this if you have ever been to seaworld, loro parque in Tenerife or if you have the slightest care for animal welfare.
