Review of BlacKkKlansman (2018) by Matt W — 12 Aug 2018
Spike Lee (in detestably the culmination of everything else he has done through his groundbreaking career) takes a story firmly rooted in another generation and captures the zeitgeist of today. It is a film very much of the current moment.
Expertly crafted pacing and juxtaposition. Bravo to ensemble cast that tackles this styled, villainous language in a way that reads natural to them while still letting the actors remain aware of the stakes at play.
And a masterfully executed ending that punches you right in the gut.
