Review of Blackway (2015) by James M — 05 Dec 2018
What a mess. Story, performances, character development all terrible. All the actors seemed to phone it in. Not that they had much to work with. The only character that had any sort of "development" was the supposed boogey-man, Blackway (Ray Liotta).
Anthony Hopkins spent the whole movie staring off into space, never a single word of explanation or motivation for his character. Julia Stiles also had only one look during the entire film. They could have taken a single photo of hers and digitally pasted on her face for every scene.
A woman is accosted and threatened in a parking lot but manages to get away without being physically hurt. The sheriff does nothing, so she asks for help from some people who have some vague connection with the attacker.
She is told by everyone that her best option is to move away. She is helped by two guys (Hopkins and Alexander Ludwig) who go up to a remote area and eventually kill the guy after a brief and ludicrous confrontation.
What a waste of talent and of my time.
