Review of Blade Runner 2049 (2017) by Mark F — 06 Oct 2017
Let's start with the negatives: some of the sets are too sterile and sparse, and the score relies on the rumbling deep bass to the extent it loses its impact by the end of the film. That's it. Everything else is positive.
The story is compelling. The acting is perfect. The cinematography is stunning.
All the things you appreciated about the original Blade Runner are present in the sequel. Best of all, it isn't a sequel for the sake of a sequel. There is purpose here that moves the story of Deckard and Rachel forward without feeling forced.
