Review of Blair Witch (2016) by Warpviper — 10 Mar 2019
The movie has a lacking beginning. The character buildup doesn't start until around the 45 minute mark. However, the movie somewhat turns around towards the ending, as the intensity level rises. Definitely one of the scarier horror movies of 2016, but it lagged behind the original in almost every other aspect.
The movie also has some bad acting, mostly during the middle. Lane, one of the protagonists of the story, had some of the worst acting I have seen to date. Peter's death also had fairly unpleasant acting, but it wasn't awful. Anyways, let's talk about the positives of the film.
One good thing I can say about this film is that the ending was quite good compared to the rest of the movie. You can tell that they spent a lot of time on the end scene, but it still wasn't great, but it was decent. Another thing I must say is that this movie is very suspenseful. While some scenes rely just on jumpscares here, some are truly suspenseful.
Overall, the movie is not nearly as good as it's predecessor, and is not that good, but there is still some inspiration if you dig deep enough.
