Review of Blow Out (1981) by Rash H — 23 Apr 2012
Enjoyed this more on my second viewing, it's sad that DePalma can't make movies like this anymore although its obvious even here that he still substitutes substance for spectacle. Its so overwrought with other influences that it barely creates its own identity, begging the question of why it was made to begin with? Regardless, this is smart and heavy film making from someone who clearly loves Antonioni and other respected auteurs.
