Review of Blue Jasmine (2013) by Jason M — 15 May 2015
While crazy is fun, charismatic and polarizing, mentally ill is just plain sad. Blue Jasmine follows the path of a woman from high class New York socialite to park bench nut job. Main character Jasmine teeters between raucous and villainous to end up in an undeniable state of pity.
Everything about the movie frames the ending, but offers little perspective until the closing moments. Blue Jasmine plays at an excellent pace and works within a space that makes everything conducive to the work.
All of the characters and scenes contribute and this is done with very little noise.
