Review of Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice (1969) by George D — 24 Mar 2010
A dated museum piece whose end is so inexplicit, I'm not 100% sure that they had gotten it on. There are few great ideas, but they are often lost under Paul Mazursky usual ham fisted long drawn out takes. Still, it is important for what it represented for its time. But in the present, it feels more like a footnote then a movie.
P.S. If any one complains that I spoiled the ending for them, well I think the title and image on the cover had already beat me to it. I don't think the ending was an artistic choice meant to introduce ambiguity, but a contractual agreement to limit the main female star's nudity and sexual explicit interactions.
