Review of Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) by Liz M — 03 Nov 2018
Don't believe the critics. They are too full of themselves, they try to be deeper than the shalow puddles they live in. This movie was just what one expected. It highlighted the genius Freddie was. It also laid bare the very conflicted, in so many ways, man he was. It even gave us a few snippets of a very private life. Which most of the critics say wasn't enough for them, they wanted more gay sex. As if that was all Freddie was about. The movie was about the music of course, and how it's made and played, family, love, loss, betrayal, about being blinded by the light, believing everyone has your best interests at heart. And when you realize the ones using you, being able to cut them loose without any qualms. If however, you are expecting a dissection of his life, a concrete timeline of events, you should pass. If you want a movie glimpse into Queens's beginning and the road he took to get to where he became a beloved musician, singer, and beautiful person, you won't be disappointed. These lyrics sum it up: But it's been no bed of roses.
No pleasure cruise.
I consider it a challenge before the whole human race.
And I ain't gonna lose ... he might not have, but we did.
