Review of Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) by David W — 16 Nov 2018
Over 2 hours but it moves at a quick pace. slows down a bit in the middle as most films do. many moments of laughter especially from the lead who plays mercury. it makes me wonder how much of it actually was said and done rather than added to bring levity to the movie.
the movie explains the origin of some of their biggest hits which was interesting. mike myers was distracting in the sense that he was austin powers playing a real character. and although rami does a good job as mercury in his performances, the frog eyes, bucktooth, bad wig made it hard to believe that was mercury at all.
I had always thought mercury was a handsome man until he was stricken with aids. I don't know but I would prefer if they had tone down the appearance some. it was hard for me to get over how freakish he looked as mercury.
and I definitely liked to know more about his life. yeah, we know how electrifying he was as a performer. there was little insight into his life other than he felt lonely a lot and was very flamboyant.
besides a full on kiss with another character, there are only glimpses of his promiscuity and the rest was only talked about but not seen.
