Review of Boys Don't Cry (1999) by Mike S — 13 Jan 2010
Kind of boring for most of it and then unpleasant but less boring at the end. Hilary Swank looks like X Factor winner Joe McEldrey in it if that's any help . . . the film needs all the help it can get.
Basically a rambling loose narrative about characters I had no interest in followed by predictable tragedy that was obvious from the outset. The character of Lana interested a little with her desire to cling to something new as a way out of her life but really much of it was gritty for the sake of being gritty and a little tiresome.
Had the protagonist and Lana actually made the journey to Tennessee when originally suggesed it may have been okay. Probably not though to be honest.
