Review of Bread and Tulips (2000) by Karen D — 24 Jul 2017
Lovely movie which makes one happy. Maglietta is pretty in a wonderful matronly way and her smile makes some of the things she does acceptable. On first watching I didn't notice that she was always breaking things, a trope that I could have done without.
I kept wanting to scream at her, but all that stuff down that you've got in your hands before trying to do things, but maybe that's the point. She needs to drop her old life. Wonderful quotes from Orlando Furioso, which every Westerner should know.
Bruno Ganz is appealing and you can see what she sees in him.
